Northeastern Manitoulin Family Health Team

The Northeastern Manitoulin Family Health Teams (NEMFHT) in Little Current provides primary care to the communities of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands, Sheguiandah First Nation, Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation, Whitefish River First Nation, and Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory.

About a Little Current Rotation

This rotation will have a combination of clinical experiences including obstetrics, Indigenous health, in-patient care, long-term care, minor surgery, house calls, and emergency medicine. The Family Health Team includes family physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, registered practical nurses, physician assistants, a pharmacist, and a social worker. The clinic is attached to the Little Current site of the Manitoulin Health Centre with laboratory and diagnostic imaging services.

Student Accommodation

Manitoulin Health Centre (MHC) owns a duplex on Meredith Street (beside the LC site of the hospital). The front half of this duplex has been renovated to create three separate, locked sleeping rooms with a common living area, shared laundry facilities and available parking. NOSM learners (but not CCC students) use this facility. Accommodation bookings are completed by NOSM once a booking has been confirmed. Access to the residence is via main door code (Main Entrance ) and bedroom door codes. Students must sign in/sign out at the Admitting Office at the main entrance between 7 am – 3 pm Monday through Friday. Alternate arrangements for check-in can be made, but are not encouraged.
