Manitoulin Central Family Health Team

The Manitoulin Central Family Health Team (MCFHT) is a primary healthcare provider organization located in the central town of Mindemoya. This is a very cooperative team, working in an integrated model inclusive of physicians (both full time and part time), nurse practitioners, registered nurses, health promoters, dietitians, pharmacists, physiotherapists, social workers, traditional healers and psychiatrists.

Things you should know about this rotation:

This rotation will have a combination of clinical, Indigenous health, hospital and emergency services. Monday through Friday, daily joint rounds provide an interactive opportunity to discuss care planning for hospital in-patients, emergency and office patients with an interdisciplinary team.  In 2018, the Mindemoya hospital had 10,209 ER visits and 432 inpatient admissions.

Accommodation :

Dr. Maurianne Reade and her husband Craig Maxwell own a house in Mindemoya that is used by NOSM students (but not usually CCC students).  This house is also used by pharmacy students from the University of Waterloo.  It is an older house in the center of town and each student has their own room. There are numerous bathrooms, a shared kitchen and laundry facilities.  Maurianne and Craig are the managers of this house, a 5-minute walk from the hospital and clinic.
