Gore Bay Medical Centre

The Gore Bay Medical Centre (GBMC) is a primary health care organization providing services to the 2,500 residents of Western Manitoulin.  Our team includes three physicians, an X-Ray technologist, a phlebotomist, and office staff.

Things you should know about this rotation:

Gore Bay Medical Centre services Western Manitoulin communities and First Nations.  We provide primary family medicine care (office-based and house calls), basic laboratory services and diagnostic X-Ray, after-hours on-call services, minor emergency care, minor surgery, Ontario Telehealth Network (OTN) tele-medicine services, and family medicine outreach clinics in Sheshegwaning and Zhiibaahaasing First Nations.  Our physicians also provide medical care to long-term care residents at Manitoulin Lodge, a 64-bed nursing home.

Accommodation ~ The McRae House:

Dr. Shelagh McRae and Dr. Bob Hamilton own a house in Gore Bay that is used as NOSM housing.  This fully furnished 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom home is located on Laird Street, a 5-minute walk to the Gore Bay Medical Centre.  The house has laundry facilities on-site, a double fold-out couch, satellite television, and beautiful outdoor spaces.  For more information about this rental or to arrange a booking, please contact Keely.
